Autumn Lake View

Clumber Lake View

A view of the the Chapel spire from the lake in Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire. In autumn the trees are particularly colourful.

Rock Pool

Rock Pool

People having fun in a rock pool at Runswick Bay, near Whitby. I was taking photographs of the houses by the sea and when I zoomed in I saw this scene.

Whitby Abbey

Whitby Abbey

It is always worth the walk up the many steps to see the magnificent ruins of Whitby Abbey. Whilst there you can comfort yourself in the knowledge that the journey back down is always a lot easier!

Alley

Funchal Alley

A typical narrow alley in the old town part of Funchal, Madeira. Certainly one of my favourite holiday destinations.

Rooftop Cafe

Rooftop Cafe

A sunny day at the rooftop cafe of the old Market Hall in Funchal, Madeira. Everyone was relaxed, happy and enjoying the pleasant environment.

Trees

Trees

An ethereal and mystical forest landscape. Inspired by various woodlands in the Nottinghamshire area.

Lakeside Evening

Lakeside Evening

Inspired by one of my favourite walks around the lake in Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire.

Graham's Forklift

Graham's Forklift

Graham is an eccentric gentleman who lives in a woodland cottage a few miles from me. He collects old vehicles and tinkers with them. His land is littered with old cars, vans, lorries and assorted machinery. Many of them, like this forklift truck, have been encroached upon by the surrounding woodland vegetation and blend in well with their surroundings.

Major Oak

Major Oak

This legendary oak tree is a feature of Sherwood Forest. It is many centuries old and is reputed to have been a hideout for Robin Hood and his followers. Nowadays the old oak is supported by a series of stout wooden props. However for this painting I have omitted these in an attempt to show the tree in healthier times.

Naked Tree

Naked Tree

This tree is on one of my regular cycling routes. In summer it is a riot of green but in autumn and winter it becomes a more stark and naked version of itself.

Rievaulx Abbey

Rievaulx Abbey

Even in its present ruined state the abbey remains an imposing sight.
